What is the Snowflake connector?
You don’t need to use Topsort’s ad platform to give Tomi rich context on your ad data. If your advertising data is already in Snowflake, you can connect it directly to Tomi. Connect campaign details, performance, product catalog, and inventory data so Tomi has the context it needs to answer questions and make recommendations. Existing Topsort customers can also provide additional business context, such as loyalty and sales margin data. Once connected, ask questions in plain language. Tomi writes and runs SQL against the connected database using the access you grant. Before you start
You’ll need:- An account at tomi.topsort.com.
- Advertising data stored in Snowflake.
- A Snowflake administrator to create a user, configure read-only access, and generate a programmatic access token.
Connect your warehouse
-
Create a Snowflake user and read-only role. Grant
SELECTon the tables Tomi should access andUSAGEon the required warehouse and database. Do not grant write privileges. Tomi rejects the connection if it detects permissions to insert, update, delete, or change objects. - Create a programmatic access token for the Snowflake user.
- Open the Snowflake connection in Tomi. Sign in at tomi.topsort.com, open Connections, and select Connect on Snowflake.
-
Enter the connection details:
- Account identifier, for example
xy12345.us-east-1 - User
- Warehouse
- Database
- Role
- Programmatic access token
- Account identifier, for example
- Wait for the schema scan. The status changes from Reading schema to Ready when the connection is available. If the scan fails, select Rescan schema to retry.
- Check the connection with a question. Ask Tomi about the connected tables and confirm that it can access the intended data.
Ask questions about your advertising data
Start with a question that identifies the period, campaigns, or business outcome you want to investigate. For example:- “Which campaigns had the largest decline in ROAS over the last 30 days?”
- “Compare campaign performance by product category and identify where spend is generating few purchases.”
- “Use our product margin data to identify campaigns with strong ROAS but low profitability.”
Access and limits
- Read-only access: Tomi queries data; it cannot change your Snowflake records or objects.
- Credential storage: The access token is encrypted at rest and is never displayed again.
- Data access: Tomi queries your warehouse directly. It does not copy your database to Topsort.
- Connection scope: Each Tomi user can have one Snowflake connection, using one Snowflake user, warehouse, database, and role.
- Schema discovery: The schema scan covers up to 200 tables and uses Snowflake comments to seed descriptions.
- Query limits: Queries return up to 200 rows and are cancelled after 60 seconds.
